Weight Loss With Body Building Routine - Tips and Strategies

If you've seen a body builder before either in real life or in a magazine or tv, you can see that these athletes have lean muscular bodies and practically no fat. Usually, you can see their six pack abs quite well. Their abs themselves show that their amount of body fat is very low because the more your muscles are visible, the less fat you have. Body fat is measured in percentage and a 2-4% range is usually the norm for most body builders.

The topic of this article is about weight loss and how to use body building to achieve your goal and why I've given you the previous illustration of body fat is because the less fat you have in your body, the lighter you'll weigh. Fats are excess calories in your body and fats have more calories than protein and carbohydrate. So if you consume more fats, you'll get more calories and you can end up storing excess calories as fat deposits in your body.

A body building routine for weight loss is an ideal weight loss plan since a body builder regularly exercises and pays strict attention to nutrition. If a weight loss achiever wants to attain his objectives, body building is a highly recommended sport. With body building, the weight loss individual will adopt a different mindset. He will be more disciplined, patient, determined just like a body builder's qualities. And naturally, he will have a better health and less prone to diseases like cardiovascular, diabetes, high blood pressure amongst others.

So what consists exactly a body building routine? A body builder typically trains several times a week with weights and perform body weight exercises as well and eat several quality meals daily. He also does cardio training multiple times a week. Since a body builder usually competes in contests, he needs to adhere to his routine very closely and this is what you should do too even though you're not competing. Why? The simple reason is that if you follow such a strict routine, your weight loss success will become a reality sooner than you initially thought of. Here are some tips and strategies.

When you work out with weights or do body weight exercises alone, you are basically toning and strengthening your muscles. And you know what? Muscles speed metabolism which will benefit you because your body will be more inclined to burn fat rather than store them. Also, when you do strength training, you are also burning fat since you will be sweating. Sweating is a key factor to burning fat and excess weight. Then, you also need to do some cardio training like running and cycling. You can do these activities in the gym with the machines or in nature. The frequency of your weight loss routine is fundamental too. You can do weight training 4 times per week training different body parts per day and perform cardio training 3 times per week for about 45-60 minutes per session. Do your cardio training on the days you don't do strength training. Basically it's preferable that you don't mix your cardio in your weight training. If you do cardio first, you might be a bit exhausted to do weight training after. And vice versa.

Since you'll be training hard, you should pay strict attention to your nutrition because if not, all your hard work will be wasted. Avoid foods high in saturated fats and soft drinks which are filled with sugars. Don't snack on just anything. If you don't know what to eat, here is a sample nutrition for your weight loss goals. Eat more quality protein and opt for complex carbohydrates but be moderate though. Some valuable protein sources are skinless chicken breast/turkey breast, egg whites, white fish, lean red meat, tuna, salmon, cottage cheese and skim milk. Some valuable complex carbohydrates are wholegrain cereals, porridge oats, oatcakes, wheetabix, shredded wheat, brown rice, corn, yam, lentils, potato, sweet potato, bagel, brown bread, wholemeal breads, spaghetti and macaroni.

Don't forget your vegetables intake like broccoli, green beans, asparagus, tomatoes, lettuce, garlic(garlic has been proven to be great for weight loss) and eat fruits like banana, orange, kiwi, papaya and grape. Opt for healthy fats like canola oil and olive oil. Go for healthy cooking techniques like boiling, baking or steaming. Drink lots of water at least 8 glasses or bring at least a 1.5 litre bottle with you. Go for 4-6 small meals per day instead of 3 big meals. And eat every 2-3 hours. Eating regularly in small quantity will boost your metabolism which will put your body in a fat burning mode rather than fat storing. Get adequate amount of sleep everyday.

If you follow a body building routine with determination, discipline and patience, I guarantee that you will shed the pounds away like you never did before. Give it a few weeks before you start noticing changes in your body fat and weight and sooner than you realize, you're on your way to get the body of your dreams. Good luck.

How To Calculate Weight Loss Percentage

Losing weight can sometimes be a very difficult task, requiring a large amount of energy and a lot of motivation. Knowing how to calculate weight loss percentage can really be a morale booster for your rough times because your actual results can only encourage you to perform more of the taken actions - like jogging, dieting or others.

It can also help you stay on track and not exaggerate with anything, as we do know that anything done in excess can harm your body. It can help you set goals and achieve them step by step.

But how do we calculate weight loss percentage? Is it a difficult math task? No way! It's a pretty basic formula. First of all you'll need to remember your initial weight. Secondly, you'll need your actual weight at this point. Now, the formula goes like this:

((IW-AW)/IW) * 100= weight loss percentage

In this formula IW is your initial weight and AW is your actual weight at this point. It's not as complicated as it initially seems: practically all you do is subtract the actual weight from the initial weight and divide the number obtained by your initial weight. Multiply the result with 100 and you'll get the exact percent.

Now you can see that it's pretty basic - but opening a lot of possibilities. For example, you can measure your weight once a week and create an Excel table which instantly calculates the weight loss percentage for you. This can really help you keep track of your progress and can be a real motivation booster as I previously mentioned.

With this you can also create a weight loss percentage graphic - actually drawing your progress at certain points.

Well, if you fully understood how this works, you can conclude that now you know how to calculate weight loss percentage. If not, try to re-read the article more carefully.

Weight Loss As An Added Bonus

The truth is that the astounding weight loss being achieved on the green tea diet is just one of the numerous miracle-like benefits of simply drinking it. The tea diet is also widely recognized as a substance that can protect against many different cancers such as stomach cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer of the colon, oral cancer, prostate cancer, and breast and cervical cancers. Another antioxidant in tea diet is also being studied as a potential cure for cancer. The diet is actually a dietary supplement which is composed of natural ingredients such as green tea.

Due to the popularity of recent findings, green tea has almost become synonymous with weight loss and diet. For instance, instead of drinking coffee and cream which area high in calories, the weight loss programs can not only save you from taking in too much calories but also let you take in several healthful substances like polyphenols and flavonoids. There are a large number of remedial benefits of drinking green tea and research has confirmed that consuming a small amount like just one cup a day can greatly assist in weight reduction and fat burning. The great thing about the weight loss benefit of green tea extracts is that it does not have any adverse side-effects.

With its countless health and weight loss benefits, these dieting supplements are fast replacing ephedra as the leading weight loss product in the market. Although green tea weight loss supplements also contain caffeine this doesn't seem to have the negative effects found in other products with caffeine. People who use these supplements in studies will loose approximately 2 pounds per month. Yes, believe it or not, more and more often you'll find green tea (or green tea extract) included in the compilations of many of the more popular weight loss supplements today.

As opposed to black and oolong tea which undergoes full oxidization, green tea diet is only gently steamed, preserving the natural antioxidants in its original form. A green tea diet is one of the easiest lifestyle changes to make. The tea diet is no different that it not only recommends but requires the use of simple exercises to be completed along with the consumption of the dietary supplements.

Some Weight Loss Studies That Made The Headlines In 2007

Here are a few of the weight loss studies that made headlines for the year 2007. The results of this first study come as no surprise. The study showed that even low levels of exercise are beneficial. Participants walked briskly for thirty minutes a day three days a week. Their blood pressure decreased and their overall fitness improved. Waist and hip girth decreased significantly.

Another study showed if you are a cyclist you are at a greater risk of osteoporosis. It's recommended that you include some weight bearing exercises in your workouts.

Aren't some of these studies just plain old common sense? Exercise is beneficial to the brain announced another 2007 study. The data showed exercise improved the cognitive function of the brain.

Using a pedometer caused significant increases in physical activity and significant decreases in body mass index and blood pressure. My advice, run out and buy a pedometer and keep track of your steps and mileage.

Did you know the more entertaining a television program the more you eat. That's right a study showed the more involved the subjects were in the TV show the more they ate.

There have been many studies over the years on Conjugated Linoleic Acid CLA. The 2007 study showed that CLA helps a person lose fat.

This one is a bit of a surprise. Overweight people did not benefit as much from strength training as did leaner people. Researchers showed that both groups benefited from strength training. It's just that overweight people did not gain as much strength or lean muscle mass.

Not so surprisingly, eating soup or a salad before your meal helps to curb your appetite. The study showed that soup took the edge off hunger.

When you think about it, the findings of this study make a lot of sense. Emotional eaters have the hardest time losing and keeping weight off.

This one's scary. Being overweight increases the risk of kidney cancer.

Hang on to your seat because Americans are fatter than ever. Didn't we all know this already? How much of our taxpayer money was spent on this one?

This one isn't too hard to believe. All diets have about the same results. Researchers reported that a typical dieter lost about 12 pounds no matter what diet they choose. Providing of course they stuck with it.

A lot of people won't like the results of this study. The Atkins diet resulted in greater weight loss than other diets.

I've got to tell you about this one. Newly married young men and women gained 6 to 9 pounds more than their peers who were not married. And if the couple lived together without the benefit of marriage the weight gain was not nearly as much.

So there you have it. These are just a few of the weight loss studies that made the headlines in 2007. I'll be watching the 2008 studies. Maybe scientist will find the miracle weight loss pill we've all been waiting for.

6 Foods That Help You Lose Weight Fast

Changing your diet to include the following 6 foods will help you lose weight fast. These foods will not make you lose weight by simply eating them (there's contrasting views about whether such foods even exist) but they will ensure that your metabolic rate and energy levels stay up which means that it'll be easier to lose fat.

Foods That Help You Lose Weight

1. High fiber food. Fiber has the ability to make you feel full and is highly nutritious, though it doesn't really contain a lot of calories. It helps the body and especially the intestinal system to function a lot better. To get a good dose of fiber make sure to eat vegetables, fruit, and unprocessed grains and cereals.

2. Lean protein. Our muscle tissue has a direct bearing on our metabolic rate. The more lean muscle tissue we have the faster we burn calories. As our muscles are made of protein, it's imperative that we eat enough of it in our diet. Good sources of lean protein are chicken, turkey, egg whites, tuna, and salmon.

3. Good Fats. Yes I said fats. Even if we want to lose weight our body still needs fat in order to function properly. But there's a huge difference between good and bad fat. In order to get good fat we should eat walnuts, almonds, flax seeds and other nuts, olive oil, avocados, and coconut. Remember, no fat isn't healthy and is bad for long term weight loss goals.

4. Snacks. This isn't a specific food but I had to include it because snacking can actually help you to lose weight. It has been shown that it's better to eat 5-6 meals or snacks each day than 3 square meals. Our body handles food better when it's in small doses. Snacking also keeps our blood sugar levels constant and helps the body burn fat faster.

5. Herbal tea. Drinking a hot beverage like tea helps you to lose weight faster for a number of reasons. First, drinking a hot beverage is a slow business meaning that it takes your mind off eating. Second, herbal tea has soothing affects on us which help to avoid craving and it's another way to increase our water intake. It also contains a lot of antioxidants which help to slow down the aging process.

6. Water. Most people don't consider water as food, but it's highly important to your weight loss efforts. Drinking enough water helps to stave off your hunger and also assists in all bodily functions, including the metabolism. Drink 8-12 glasses each day. You will look and feel much better.

Tips For Weight Loss

Dieting for weight loss is widespread among men and women. What people will do to lose weight is almost unbelievable. But we need to realize that dieting can be healthy or unhealthy.

I knew a man in his thirties who looked like the famous Charles Atlas. He was muscular, had a v-shaped chest down to his waist, and was trim. Yet one day he decided he was 5-pounds overweight, and could not stand it. He insisted that his doctor put him on a severe diet, and his doctor finally did though he did not like it. The result was that a few months later this young man died of cancer. Did the diet trigger cancer already present, or was it something new? I don't know, but I do know that diets can be harmful.

So some tips about dieting and weight loss can be helpful.

#1: To succeed at weight loss one must first be happy with them selves on the inside before the outside can be changed. If the inside person is unhappy with self then changing the outside will more likely fail.

#2: Keeping a food diary can be helpful. A daily record of your food intake can help you know if you are succeeding. It can also tell you where you may need to improve your diet.

#3: Do not weigh your self every day. That can be frustrating because the change each day is likely to be small, thus depressing, and suggest quitting. Weigh once or twice a week, for example, so you can see substantial change, therefore encouragement to keep on.

#4. Let family and friends know that you are dieting. They will be supportive and that will help. They will also admire you dieting rather than "shoving" unwanted food at you, tempting you to go off your diet.

#5: Lose weight with a partner. He or she can be a good friend, a spouse, or your children. Weight loss programs provide friends during the program, others in the same program, and that is good. But you need one person on the same dieting plan as you are, and exercise program, that you are comfortable with about the program. The two of you can discuss problems each may have, and encourage each other on a personal basis.

#6: Do not set impossible goals. It is healthier to lose weight gradually.

#7: Take time to learn about nutrition and exercise, and their affects on your body. Severe dieting and exercise can harm your health, thus having a good knowledge of nutrition, of nutrients, and how these and exercise working together affect your body, and your health will go about assuring a healthy and successful program.

#8: Be patient. Each person may lose weight by different amounts when on the same program. Do not let a slower weight loss depress and lead you to quitting. Patiently hand in there.

#9: Cut back on foods, dieting, gradually. If you cut back on foods drastically you may not get enough nutrients to stay healthy. And when you cut back drastically your metabolism may slow down preventing any real weight loss.

#10: If you set out to lose a few pounds you may not need to consult with your doctor at the start of a weight loss program. But if you intend to lose any substantial amount of weight be sure and consult with your doctor first. Have the doctor design the parameters of dieting, and exercise, specifically for you. Consulting with your doctor and avoid health problems for you, and better assure a successful program.

Successful weight loss begins in the mind for it is there that patience and sticking to it starts. Without that commitment weight loss is doomed to failure.

Safe weight loss starts with a visit to your doctor. That visit can avoid harm, and assure better success.

Fast Weight Loss Tips

Here in this article are a few fast weight loss tips which should help you get on the right path to losing weight successfully.

First up don't starve yourself. It may seem logical that if you eat as little as possible you will achieve fast weight loss but this isn't really the case, and nor is it safe.

It may result in initial quick weight loss but this will soon stop. The reason for this is that your body will sense it is being starved and so will slow your metabolism down to reserve more energy.

It will also inform your metabolism to burn muscle rather than fat which will increase your appetite to almost unbearable levels and thus causing an end to your diet. Once you go back to a regular eating routine you will find you gain weight quicker as your metabolism will still be working at a lower rate.

One piece of advice that is often ignored is to drink plenty of water. Water makes us feel more energetic and less sleepy but it also makes us feel fuller which is also a great benefit as it goes towards preventing you from snacking between meals.

Speeding up your metabolism is a great way of increasing the rate at which you lose weight. There is no need for pills though as there are several natural steps you can take to increase this.

They include eating more meals a day, keeping active, and making sure you eat breakfast ( this wakes your metabolism up for the day). You can find a few more tips on increasing your metabolism by reading Metabolism Boosters- Natural Ways To Boost Metabolism.

Many diets advise you to cut out certain food types such as protein or carbohydrates but this is something I would try to avoid. Every food group contains something which our body needs so by leaving out a certain food group our body will miss out on the benefits they provide.

A diet based around shifting calories not only has fast results but also doesn't require you to miss out on any food groups.

Thank you for reading these fast weight loss tips, now all you have to do is put them into practice.

How To Lose 50 Pounds In 2 months - No Starvation Requiered - Free Complete Programs

Talented dieters lose in the end. Why? Read on to learn more.

We all have certain talents. My sister always beats me in air-hockey, my hairdresser is very talented at small-talking and finding the best haircut. The ladies in Hollywood are very talented at chewing lettuce or whatever it is tey are doing to stay thin.

I also have talents but chewing lettuce is unfortunately not one of them. I have always thought of dieting and starvation as two words meaning the same thing. To starve and to torment oneself is necessary and the feeling of hunger is just a receipt that the diet is working.

The hunger and the sweet-tooth makes me snap at the children and hissing at the poor cashier at the grocery store. It is just downright impossible to answer a simple question right. While dieting I'm dog-tired, feels like a hangover after a marathon at the local bar.

Today I understand that this is my body that shouts at me -Come on! Give me something to eat, I'm dying here!

Yoyo dieting is not healthy! The talented dieter usually loses a lot of weight and then they gain the same weight. It confuses your body and it doesn't know what the .... is going on. Yoyo dieting is never a good thing it makes your skin worse, you feel lousy and in the end...you are right back where you started. Perhaps you even gain some extra pounds and they fight for their right to stay on your body. This is because while going on diets every now and then makes your metabolism go crazy...but not in the way you want, instead it hoards the fat while you are eating normally.

So we want your metabolism going crazy but in the right way.

Your metabolism rate depends on two things (simplified), diet and exercise. The right diet can increase your metabolism and the right kind of exercise will give the diet a turbo-effect.

I feel psychic...I can read your mind...'Exercising sucks!'. I'm sorry to say that exercising is necessary to burn bodyfat.

Great news - If you exercise in the right way it will take about two hours per week! This exercise makes your body keep the lean muscle mass and to get rid of the fat.

Thirteen Easy Steps To Healthy Weight Loss

  1. Calories are far more important then fats when it comes to affecting your weight, as long as you're eating healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats instead of saturated and trans fat. A good rule to follow is to keep the amount of saturated fat you eat per day is less than 20 grams.
  2. The human metabolism is to slow to be eating three big meals a day. In a perfect world six small meals a day is much healthier. Eating six meals a day will keep your metabolism active and also help keep your insulin levels stable.
  3. PROTEIN!!! Protein supports, builds, and rebuilds muscle. The more muscle you have the faster your metabolism will be. (It takes fifty calories a day just to support one pound of muscle!). Lean meat, fish, and poultry are all very good sources of protein. Also it is important to spread your protein intake evenly throughout your day. By doing this you will enable your body to rebuild muscle all day long.
  4. Controlling food portions. Low energy-density foods such as vegetables and fruits are less likely to be overeaten. Also they're full of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals which are critical to a healthy metabolism.
  5. Don't cut any one food group. You should be consuming carbohydrates, protein, and fat at every meal.
  6. Watch out drinks such as soda and fruit juices. They have tons of calories which can add up quickly. Plus they aren't even that
  7. WATER!!! And lots of it! Water helps you stay hydrated which will allow for more intense activity. It also helps your body flush metabolic waste.
  8. Eat your complex grains early in the day and then stick with the water rich carbohydrates such as fruit in the evening. This has to do with the way insulin is secreted into the bloodstream.
  9. Sleep! 7-8 hours a night, More or less than that can have negative effects on your health.
  10. Eat your meals slower; well chewed food is easier on your metabolism.
  11. Eat some fish. Fish such as salmon is rich in Omega-3s, these Fatty Acids are essential. They'll keep your heart healthy, as well as the bad fat out. Fatty fish such as salmon, halibut and shellfish help reduce the size of fat cells which in turn helps out with fat loss.
  12. Avoid hydrogenated fats (Trans fat), and High Fructose Corn Syrup. They send signals to the brain telling you that you are not full even when you've already eaten. Ever wonder why it's hard to drink 3 big glasses of water, but easy to down a 2 liter bottle of soda. It's the Syrup.
  13. Exercise.

Weight Loss Tips - How to Set Effective Weight Loss Goals

A word of caution: your weight loss plan is probably doomed.

As you probably remember, you just got over the holiday season. You spent a week stuffing your face with everything, from chocolates to cookies, like there's no tomorrow. And the result? You're afraid to step on the scale or look at yourself in the mirror because your weight has soared.

It's probably about then that you decided that you need to start losing weight. But even if you were to put yourself on a starvation diet and spent 6 hours a day on the treadmill, you would probably still not lose weight as effectively as you could with this simple mental exercise - goal-setting!

How do you set goals? Before we go any further, I want to set something straight - goals that you set should be SMART! SMART is a business acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-Bound. In essence, when you set a weight loss goal, it should be:

  • Specific - for example, "I will lose weight by exercising 5 times a week and eating no more than 2,000 calories a day"
  • Measurable - for example, "I will lose 20 pounds"
  • Attainable - your goal needs to push you slightly beyond the limit of your capabilities, but not so far as to make it impossible to achieve. For example, losing 20 pounds when you weight 300 is achievable; losing 200 pounds is not (or not yet, at least)
  • Realistic - in this case, it means that you have the resources and the knowledge to accomplish the goal. For example, exercising 3 times a day if you will be travelling every day for the next two weeks is not realistic
  • Time-Bound - for example, "I will meet my weight loss goal by the end of March 2008"

Here's what this is all about - effective, SMART goals will keep you motivated and stop you from giving up on your weight loss process. You will be able to keep track of your progress and stop yourself from deviating from your plan of action. But here's the real kicker - SMART goal setting takes very little time but increases your likelihood of meeting your diet objectives by a whooping 84%.

As you can see, goal-setting is an extremely powerful - and often overlooked - component of any weight loss effort. But here's something else to keep in mind - goal-setting will also allow you to improve your weight loss effort by being able to tell exactly what works and what doesn't. For example, if you set a goal and it is clear that you are not meeting it in time, you will notice it much earlier and hopefully identify a way to improve the weight loss process.

Hypnosis For Weight Loss - Can It Really Work For You?

Hypnosis can work for you to lose weight. I'll tell you more about it in this article.

Many people don't believe that you can lose weight with hypnosis because the mass media distorts their view of this success medical practice.

You watch television or maybe attend a local gathering and they have a stage hypnotist guaranteed to get the audience laughing when you see that guy acting goofy. A snap of the fingers and he doesn't even remember a thing! This is pretty much timeless comedy, don't you agree?

So when someone tells you that you can lose weight through hypnosis (or hypnotherapy as the medical establishment prefers to call it) then it sounds like some kind of joke.

But I tell you it isn't. Let us first understand how weight loss works then we can understand how hypnotherapy can help us.

You see, weight loss is really an addiction. "But surely you need food, so how can you be addicted to food?" - you might say. I agree with you, but weight loss is not an addiction to food. It is an addiction to excess food. And when you try to give up that excess food, it is just like giving up smoking.

That excess food is your daily comfort. It's what keeps you happy and away from the stresses of life. But deep down, you know that excess food is making you feel unwell and slowly killing you. Deep down, you know that you need to stop eating that excess food - in fact, you are not even feeling hungry when you eat that excess food so you know that your body doesn't need it but you just "can't help it".

Well, a hypnotherapist can help you. I'm not saying that they are a miracle cure but they are one of many weapons that you should have in your locker to fight being overweight. Add Green Tea to Your Weight Loss Program

Green tea is rich in epigallochatechin gallate or EGCG. EGCG is an antioxidant which destroys free radicals in the body. Free radicals can cause aging and disease. The EGCG in green tea also helps to lower cholesterol levels and increase the metabolic rate of the body.

Research conducted at the University of Geneva in Switzerland by American and Swiss scientists show that green tea is effective in weight loss programs. The study was conducted with ten young men as subjects. The scientist compared the difference in energy expenditures of green tea and that of caffeine or a placebo. The energy expended using green tea was a four percent increase. This result has led to the belief that green tea can have an impact on weight loss.

Green tea can also lead to a healthier lifestyle. Drinking coffee with cream and sugar is high in calories and caffeine. Substituting green tea adds healthful substances like polyphenols and flavornoids to the body. Green tea does contain a small amount of caffeine, significantly less than coffee. Caffeine is an appetite suppressant which aids in weight loss.

The formation of fats in the body lead to weight gain. By drinking green tea, the fat is reduced by inhibiting the effect of insulin in the body. Insulin converts glucose into energy which is stored in the body as fat. A weight loss program with green tea as a component causes sugar to be sent directly to the muscles. This prevents fat from forming.

Green tea also promotes thermogenesis. Thermogensis is the process which burns fat and releases calories in the body. The caffeine content and catechin polyphenols create thermogenesis. This process stimulates metabolism in the body.

There are other components in weight loss. However, it is proven that if energy intake is reduced or increased energy is expended, weight loss will occur. Green tea has many benefits for those involved in weight loss programs.

Weight Loss With Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers believes that dieting is just part of long-term weight management. A healthy life style will result in a healthy body. Weight watchers has achieved lasting success with their weight loss program, and the program now has more flexibility than in past years. We are going to look at a few reasons their program works.

Part of their secret to success is the community involvement. The community in this case is a group of like minded people meeting on a regular bases to share their weight loss wins and failures. It is that feeling your not in this alone or I see what you did and I think I can do the same thing. Their pep rallies ( meeting) are encouraging and motivational.

The weight Watchers point system is probably he best known of their programs. A large number of foods have been evaluated and given a point value. If one stays within there daily point recommendation the chances are good that weight loss will result. Although they have booklets giving the point values of various food,this formula will be of help when the book is not available. Points= calories/50 +fat grams/12 - fiber grams/5'

So how many points are recommended? Weight Watchers provides these guidelines:

Less than 150 pounds = 18-25 Points

150 to 174 pounds = 20-27 Points

175 to 199 pounds = 22-29 Points

200 to 224 pounds = 24-31 Points

225 to 250 pounds = 26-33 Points

Over 250 pounds = 28-35 Points

Plus there some flex points involved. Flex points allow a person to pig out on a special occasion and and not feel that they have abandoned their comment.

Another program is the Core Plan. Basically this plan gives a wide scope on the variety of food recommended and relies on the discipline of the individual to limit the quantity. Most beginning dieters find that the community aspect,discipline and motivation supplied with the Points Plan is an excellent way to begin. When weight loss happens and they feel comfortable with the system, then the Core Plan may be advisable.

Their website (http://www.weightwatchers.com) contains a lot of helpful information. Your favorite recipe can be found changed to abide by the Weight Watchers guidelines. For people to busy to take time for a meeting or if a meeting is not available in you local they also have an online application of their plan.

Although Weight Watchers may not be for everybody the program can be very beneficial as it address the mental, emotional and physical health aspects of dieting. Weight loss is each individuals responsibility. See you at the meeting.

Shed Off Your Weight Every Weeks!

Plan to solve your weight-loss problems in 3 weeks? This is possible if you understand what is happening to the neuro-chemical and hormonal systems in your body.

The cumulative results of decades' worth of research have led experts to conclude that the key to speedy, lasting weight loss lies in nurturing and repairing three interrelated body systems. In order to make the biochemical changes necessary for fast weight loss, the glandular, neuro-chemical and hormonal systems each need to be given specialized treatment inoder for weight loss to take effect.

You may want to start off with a three-week plan. It starts with a well-rounded basic meal plan, then adds key nutrients in week 1 that restore the master weight-loss glandsthe thyroid and adrenals. Then week 2 adds nutrients that boost neuro-transmitter production, making it possible to dodge the powerful food cravings that sabotage weight loss during the second week of most diets. Finally, week 3 incorporates foods that naturally boost hormone levels, shutting off fat cells' genetically programmed drive to plump up in order to produce more estrogen. The result is a strong restorative base that optimizes all three areas of the female weight-loss puzzle through week 4 and beyond so the weight continues to reduce and never returns.

Each week fine tune your slimming system

In addition to following a pound-paring meal plan designed to nourish the entire body, each week you'll incorporate two dietary approaches scientifically proven to optimize the health and functioning of the glandular, neurochemical and hormonal systems, in that order. Rather than shocking your body with a hard-to-maintain diet overhaul, you'll move your slimming program together over three weeks, ensuring effortless weight loss that lasts for life.

Activate the thyroid to fire up fat burn

Take a muttivitamin rich in selenium. The study-proven dose: 200 meg daily. With ample selenium intake, the thyroid and adrenals can be healed in just three weeks. This will helps to reduce fatigue and keeping energy levels high. You may also choose to sip ginseng tea during high-stress times. Hundreds of studies show that ginsenosides, ginseng's active ingredients, shield the thyroid and adrenals from stress, lowering production of diet-sabotaging cortisol and boosting energy by as much as 50 percent within three days.

Stabilize neurochemicals to conquer cravings

Consume aminos at regular intervals. Tyrosine and phenyl-alamne are the building blocks of dopamine. And according to UCLA researchers, including them in every meal could dramatically increase mental and physical energy levels, plus dampen cravings for sweets and fats in as little as one week. You may wish to savor cocoa each evening. The theo-bromine and phenylethylamine in cocoa raise the brain's production of serotonin,dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), neurochemicals that boost mood and control cravings. Research suggests that enjoying a little each evening by savoring an ounce or two of quality chocolate or a mug of hot cocoa can cut night time cravings by 50 percent.

Balance female hormones to eliminate belly fat

You may choose to snack on soy. As the ovaries' ability to produce hormones slows with age, phytoestrogens can help, ending the body's genetic drive to pack on more estrogen-producing fat. Consume 12 ounces of soy milk or a half cup of phytoestrogen-rich legumes, tofu, flaxseeds or cruciferous veggies daily. Swap refined carbs for whole grains. White flour, sugar and other refined carbs flood the bloodstream in as little as 20 minutes after consumption, causing insulin levels to spike. The problem: Insulin not only shuttles sugar into fat cells; it also stimulates production of androgens. These male hormones bind to the hormone receptor sites in cells, making the body think estrogen is in short supply. To nix the hormonal confusion, opt for fiber-rich whole grains, which are slowly absorbed. This cuts insulin spikes, reducing androgen overload by 20 percent to help restore estrogen balance.

You may want to try out this healthy staples, that serves as the base for this plan. For each week during the first 21 days, you can fine tune it to include that weeks system nourishing strategies.

6 servings of breads, cereals, rice
3 servings of vegetables
2 servings of fruit
3 servings of milk, yogurt, cheese (preferably fat-free)
3 servings of eggs, beans, nuts, soy.

Permanent Weight Loss: 5 Simple Steps

Have you ever noticed that diets dont work? Oh, sure, you may lose weight, but it boomerangs right back, and with a vengeance. Then you feel guilty, weak, frustrated, and like a hopeless failureone more time.

Diets are designed to fail. They are too restrictive, too loaded with fat and cholesterol, and too empty of life-saving nutrients.

Besides that, they leave you hungry.

Guess what? You cant fight your hunger drive. Just like your thirst instinct, your hunger instinct keeps you alive, and it will win every time. If youre hungry, sooner or later youll eat, and often the very same foods that trap you in the layers you hate.

How about jumping off the diet-go-round and trying this. Fill-up on the best-for-you foods first that are calorie-low (yeah! permanent weight loss) and nutrient-dense to prevent scary diseases like cancer, diabetes type 2, heart disease, and strokes: whole, unrefined fruits, vegetables, grains, and beans, our health heroes and disease warriors.

Here are 5 simple guidelines to losing weight forever:

1. Think addition, not subtraction. Dont go to that place of deprivation, like having to give up meat.

2. Add 10+10 again and again. Get those fresh fruits and vegetables in you every day.

3. Fill-up on premium foods before eating other foods. Dont even think about which foods you may naturally gravitate away from because you simply dont have enough room in your stomach or the desire (believe it or not) to eat them.

4. Ask yourself, Does this food feed me or deplete me? If you dont know, just ask yourself, Which foods prevent cancer? Answer: whole, fresh fruits and vegetables. Okay, then eat them FIRST! Remind yourself that there are choices and consequences.

5. Follow the Dr. Leslie Casual/Dress-Up Rule or 80/20 Rule. Eat impeccably 80% of the time and the rest of the timedont worry about it.

Satisfy your hunger drive and your desire to get down to the size you long to be. Feel good about YOUonce and forever!

In order to keep it working to its maximum you have to keep it well fuelled, maintained and oiled. If just one of these factors is missed then that supreme sports car will not run to its maximum and most probably breakdown. The human body and weight loss runs in a similar manner. To get the most out of it and achieve those results within weight loss you have to get every factor inch perfect from diet to exercise and the right mind set. Doing this by yourself can be a daunting process and why most people fall off the rails when it comes to succeeding in losing weight. This is where a well written detailed plan or program can come into play.

When we as humans are faced with a task or problem the first thing we do is try to find a solution to the problem as easy and quickly as possible. So with the problem being weight loss and the aim is to destroy those extra pounds a weight loss program can solve that problem easier and quicker than struggling through it on your own.

There are countless programs available to choose from and finding a program to suit you is vital not only to maximise results but to give you a detailed step by step guide to reaching that ultimate goal of a new slimmer you. Weight loss programs are full of detailed information on dieting and eating healthily which is one of the main factors of any weight loss success. There is information on what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat to keep your body nourished and full at all times. If a step by step guide on what to eat and when is proven to give results then you are suddenly in that "win win" situation in possession of a bible to success.

On top of the diet, exercise is as important in all aspects. The fact step 1 is covered and your diet is equipped for battle, step 2 and exercise will destroy that fat. Exercising is needed to lose weight there is no way of getting around this point but the thought of pounding away on a treadmill for hours or doing a 1000 sit ups is enough to put off the most motivated individual. Now by following a detailed weight loss program you are giving your arsenal against the fat a fighting chance. The exercise routines within a good detailed plan will not have you pounding a treadmill or putting your stomach muscles through torture as there will be detailed exercise plans that in some cases last only 30 minutes. Exercise plans that are simple to follow, easy to understand and literally guide you through the whole process while bringing results. Having that sort of information does not only boost your chances of success but virtually guarantee it. Some people look at a detailed diet and exercise program as being a personal trainer and nutritionist all rolled into one without the damage on the purse.

A simple step by step guide will bring success and what an exercise program can ultimately offer. Its like anything, try putting a flat pack wardrobe together without the step by step guide. Of course in time there might be a chance you get it together. But use a step by step guide and you will succeed just about every time and in quick time.

So if you have thought about looking into a detailed program to follow or whether one would enable you to lose more weight and quicker. The answer is of course its not a magic plan but like anything else a plan of attack brings results! FACT!

Exercise programs that cover all major factors are few and far between and finding one to assist you is a job in itself. They are available though! Visit http://www.weight-loss-made-easy.com for more info and tips on finding the right path on your weight loss journey.

Tips For Healthy Weight Loss

Let's face it, being overweight has become a real problem for us. Diet companies, diet pills and supplements and gyms have become a very large business. Every single day there are hundreds of thousands of people who watch advertisements on television, read magazine ads and who do research on the internet. Everyone is looking for a quick and simple solution to their weight problem.

What makes matters even worse is that a large portion of these people try one method of weight loss, achieve some degree of success, gain the weight back and then try another method to lose weight. The big companies know this and use it to their advantage. It is an industry standard that the average consumer that habitually indulges in weight loss programs and products will change what they are doing every six months or so.

This is down right frightening. Real, healthy and enduring weight loss can only be achieved by doing our homework and implementing what we have learned. Healthy, long term weight loss requires a significant lifestyle change and not a quick fix.

The following are the things that you should seriously consider when embarking on a weight loss program that has enduring and healthy results.

1/ Before you do anything, do your homework. In this day and age, with access to the internet, anyone can learn almost anything in a relatively short period of time. The down side to this is, of course, information overload. However, with a little effort and patience one should be able to separate the important information from the junk.

There is not one single diet for everyone. Also, it is never, ever necessary to join a weight loss program that either sells you food or tells you how to eat. It is simpler and cheaper to learn what to eat and to prepare it for yourself. After all, this is not rocket science.

Get a primary education on whole, natural foods. Gaining weight and becoming fat does not happen in a vacuum. It is self evident that it is what we eat and how we live that permits us to gain those extra pounds and to get out of shape.

2/ Take the time to figure out what organic exercise program appeals to you. What I mean by that, for most people, joining a gym is not necessary and is not the best way to work out.

Do you like to walk? How about swim, jog or ride a bike? Do you enjoy an aerobic workout following along with a tape or dvd on the television? Figure out what it is that you enjoy doing and make the commitment to do it. It is that simple.

This is what you will discover. If you make the transformation of your lifestyle your primary goal, the weight loss will be effortless. The weight goals that you achieve will be healthy. It takes focus, determination and effort, but the benefits are priceless.

Quick Weight Loss Tips

Weigh yourself daily, preferably first thing in the morning. You will weigh the least at this time which will encourage you and you will have the motivation to eat correctly if the weight is higher than you expected. By weighing each day you can keep a better handle on what causes you to gain weight and helps you cut back a little that day if you have gained some.

Make sure you're drinking at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces per day of water. If you drink coffee, make sure you drink extra water since coffee is a diuretic that will deplete the water in your body. One last thing to mention about water is to drink it 1/2 hour before a meal since water can dilute your meal and flush out the enzymes.

Toxins come into our bodies from water, air and our food. The fat cells in the body surround the toxins because they attach themselves to our organs. Fat cells are not going to leave the body unless the toxins leave and the only way to get toxins out is to use a program that will eliminate them. Ever wonder why we gain weight in our midsection right where our organs are? Ever wonder why it gets harder and harder to lose weight as we get older? Toxins and fat cells keep collecting more and more and don't leave the body. You'll be amazed how quickly and safely you can lose weight and inches if you use a program that gets rid of the toxins.

Stalled weight loss? You might want to try eating 4 small meals a day for a week instead of 3 to set your metabolism higher. Then when you're back to eating 3 meals focus on filling your plate over 1/2 way with vegetables (raw or cooked or a combination). Make sure you balance it with some protein. If you eat the vegetables first and then fill in with the protein you'll be surprised how full you will be when the meal is over.

Guide To Weight Loss - Three Things To Stay Away From When Losing Weight

Here are three things that you definitely need to avoid if you want to lose weight. Many people don't even know about what I'm going to reveal right now, and that's one of the reasons why they can't lose weight - because if you eat the foods below then you will definitely put on the pounds. So here's a list of foods you should avoid...

1. "Natural Flavors" and "Spices"

Any package that says "Natural" on the front or the back generally means that the product does not contain any added "artificial" (having no counterpart in nature) additives, but it does not necessarily mean pesticides or other chemicals were not used in processing. Your potato chips that say "natural" could be genetically altered, grown with pesticides, and cleaned with unfiltered water and still read "All Natural!"

What is scary is that natural flavors and spices are assumed to be OK. But what is not OK is that any substance derived from something natural, no matter how dangerous it is, can be classified as a "natural flavoring." What's worse is that if a poisonous chemical is used to derive that flavoring, it can still be called "natural". Many natural flavors are synthesized from Isoprene, which is a known carcinogen! Isoprene stays in the food... it doesn't just disappear!

Manufacturers also hide monosodium glutamate (MSG)-a flavoring which causes headaches and allergic reactions-in their "natural flavorings" or "spices" listings because it is derived from seaweed, a natural product. So clearly, being natural is not the same as being harmless.

2. Irradiated Foods

Food irradiation is done by zapping food with a dosage of radiation. The X-rays are used to kill insects and bacteria, prevent sprouting, and slow rotting. While the process does not make the food radioactive, the chemical structure of the food is altered and there are a number of animal studies that show negative health effects. Some researchers suspect that a regular diet of irradiated food may cause leukemia, other forms of cancer, and kidney disease.

The FDA says it's safe. When you hear that, I want you to think about other things that were apparently safe... such as cigarette smoking, pesticides, asbestos and CFCs. Each of these at one time was classified as safe. The FDA claims irradiation of food is safe and has already authorized the irradiation of fruits, vegetables, pork, chicken, herbs, spices, teas, and seeds. Spices are the most widely irradiated food in the United States. You can avoid irradiation by buying 100% organic spices and foods.

NOTE: Avoid the microwave as well. This type of irradiation affects the chemistry of foods by activating the water molecules inside. If cooking does some damage to enzymes and foods, then microwaving is the equivalent to a nuclear blast, leaving everything once living lifeless and wilted.

3. Chemicals

This is the catch-all... As a general rule, anything that's longer than 15 letters, you can't pronounce and is hyphenated is generally not good for you.

Healthy Eating and Weight Loss

As long as there have been people, there has been weight loss. It is just in the past few decades that we have linked healthy eating habits with weight loss.

Today you will see ads promising that a pill will aid you in weight loss, fad diets and eating certain foods. It seems we all want a quick fix for weight loss and we want to continue our bad eating habits instead of trying healthy eating. This obesity problem has now begun affecting children as well as their parents and many health concerns have arisen because of this growing problem.

The key to proper weight loss is healthy eating. In the past, we did not know as much about nutrition and how the body works as we do today, so it is no wonder people in the past died early because of weight loss problems and other health issues. A farmer of the past thought nothing of eating eggs, bacon, toast with butter, everyday for breakfast. He wasnt aware of the health risks involved in eating these foods on a regular basis.

In the past, to promote weight loss, you were cautioned against eating too many calories. Healthy eating was not a priority until recently. Many weight loss plans that work for other people, may not work as well for you. You need to find out the best way for you to begin your weight loss and this should begin with healthy eating.

Eating healthy is not at all difficult and is not as limiting as one may think. Fresh fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins are one way of healthy eating that will aid in weight loss. Cutting out sugary drinks and replacing it with water is another healthy alternative that will hasten your weight loss. Not only is water empty of calories, but it can help flush out toxins and the water weight you have accumulated by not eating healthy in the past.

Healthy eating is not the only factor when you decide to begin a weigh loss program. You will need to add exercise and be committed to the long and hard road ahead. It wont be easy to cut out unhealthy foods that have long been your favorite, but once you do and you begin to feel the benefits of healthy eating, weight loss will seem like an extra bonus.

Your skin and energy levels improve vastly when you begin a healthy eating plan for weight loss. You will be proud of how clear and glowing your skin becomes and how much more energy you have to do things you were too tired to do before.

Healthy eating for weight loss can help you break the bad habits you had before. It may be difficult at first, especially when you cut out the sugar and sweets that have long comforted you, but in the end, it will seem as if healthy eating is the only way of life for you now. You can enjoy variety, different cooking methods (as long as they contain no or low fat) and new foods you may have never tried before. Begin a healthy eating regime and see how quick weight loss becomes part of your new routine.

How To Lose Belly Fat In Only 10 Minutes

I have been doing this for years folks. One of the most common questions I get at the gym while I'm training someone is "How Do I Lose Belly Fat"? It's simple I tell them and it really is. You just have to be consistent. That is the key to anything you do in life. It's called ambition. Let's start:

Minutes 1-5

1. Interval training. This is a process which keeps your metabolism high and makes it higher. You can apply this method to any aerobic workout. One example is walking. Let's say you walk for 10 seconds, you run for 20 seconds. Repeat this over and over until you are satisfied. Those 10 seconds of walking in between the runs give you a chance to "rest", therefore letting the body regroup itself and get used to the idea of running. It's great for your metabolism.

Minute 6

2. Sit-ups! The key to having a slimmer looking belly is excersizing your mid-section. You want to work those abdominal muscles. Do 10 regular sit-ups, 10 side-to-side situps, and 10 sit-ups with your feet off the ground. Do this every day and you can have that six-pack you've always dreamed of!

Minute 7

3. Push-ups. I don't think I need to explain this one. Just remember to keep your body straight and off the ground.

Minutes 8-10

4. Jump rope! Sounds like fun? It really is once you get going. When you're jumping, think about your fat just falling off. Your belly is getting smaller. Have this mentality, it is great and once you see results, it is an excellent feeling.

Follow those 4 excersizes for 10 minutes every day. Just 10 minutes! You don't have that much time? Then why did you sit here and read this whole article. Go now and get started! I urge you!

Michael Porterlini is dedicated to the health and well-being of others. Please visit my website for an excellent review on a very popular fat loss program. I highly recommend it and it's a great program.

Fast Weight Loss Plan

Want a fast weight loss plan? It's easy to say goodbye quickly to 10 or 12 pounds of fat with these diet tips. Simply follow these tips and learn how to lose weight effectively.

The basics ..... eat plenty of good tasting, fresh, and healthy foods, fill up on vegetables, and keep your taste buds happy by eating lots of fruit. You should eat 3 small meals along with 3 small snacks each day.

No need to sacrifice! Just follow these simple guidelines to lose 10 or 12 pounds, or to give your weight loss efforts a boost when it seems to have screeched to a halt. Implement this balanced and flexible plan which shows you how to lose weight effectively.

<1>

Keep notes about everything you put into your mouth. No need to estimate calories. Just keep a record of what you eat and drink along with the approximate quantity. You will find that becoming aware of what you are eating helps you to plan healthy meals and snacks.

<2>

Cut your intake of all pure or added fats in half. Use half as much butter or spread on your bread, toast, muffins and potatoes; use half of your usual amount of mayonnaise or sauce on your salad; and use only half of the oil you normally put into the frying pan.

<3>

Eat treats containing sugar only three times per week. This includes the usual suspects: chocolate, ice cream, desserts, cake, pastries, and cookies.

<4>

Most meals should include a lower fat source of protein such as fish, chicken, cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, or beans. You can eat nuts, red meat, and eggs ..... just not every day.

<5>

Cheese and meat should be absent from at least one lunch and dinner every week. In order to increase fiber and reduce fat, those meals without cheese and meat can be built around whole grains, vegetables and beans.

<6>

Consume milk products containing reduced fat. Reduce from whole milk to 2% fat. Over time, reduce from 2% to 1%. Consume lower fat cheese and yogurt. Always read the labels to confirm that the yogurt you purchase does not contain sugar.

<7>

Eat a minimum of two servings of fruit every day as dessert or for snacks. Choose fruit that is in season.

<8>

Substitute water for sodas, juices, milk or alcohol. Do not drink diet soda because the sweet taste makes you crave sugar. Many people find that hot water with a slice of lemon can be very refreshing in the morning.

<9>

Include at least two servings of vegetables during lunch and dinner. You can have more servings of vegetables if you are still hungry.

<10>

Eat slowly in order to give your body time to understand that it is no longer hungry. This will reduce your tendency to eat too much.

<11>

Grated carrots are great for snacks and are much more filling than whole carrots.

<12>

The fiber in whole grains gives you a fuller feeling and will also help your digestion.

<13>

You can increase your fiber intake by choosing foods that need to be chewed. Chewing helps us to feel more satisfied. For example, eat some fruit instead of drinking juice. And always try to eat chunky soup instead of broth.

<14>

Plan your meals and snacks in advance. Plan your shopping in advance, too. Make your list and stick to it. Don't take the chance of loading up on high-calorie food when shopping while you are hungry.

<15>

Studies consistently prove that we eat more food while watching TV than we do when the TV is turned off. So, when you eat meals or snacks, leave the TV turned off.

Many of us are looking for a fast weight loss plan. We realize that a disciplined and consistent effort on our part is required.
